I have a love/hate relationship with the holidays. I love what holidays are supposed to represent: love, joy, happiness, and family.
The hate part creeps in when I see so many people going into a frenzy to pick the perfect gift, squeeze one more thing on their holiday to do list, and stuff themselves with so much food that they have to unzip their pants.
Holidays are supposed to be joyful and fun. We have made the holidays a s—t show of crazy things that we think we have to do to be happy and in the end, our holiday sizzle snaps.
Have you been there? This year I want to empower you to spark your spirit for a more fulfilling and meaningful holiday season. Karen Rice, my good friend and Whole Life Nutritionist, and I have a free gift for you to unwrap:

Want the first step?
The most important thing to remember is that we can’t make anyone else be different. All we can do is resolve that we ourselves will do something differently. There is no point in arguing, cajoling or even reasoning if people are resistant to an idea.
Instead, find a way to announce a small change you are going to make and stick to it. Lydia, a former client, was so stressed out about her family tradition of being extravagant with each other, and often spending money they didn’t really have in order to show love. Last year, she announced to everyone that she simply couldn’t afford to do what had always been expected. Instead, she was going to make each member of the family a handmade something to show how much she loved and appreciated them.
One sister groused, “It’s unfair that you’re going to make me cookies when I’m giving you something expensive.” To which Lydia replied, “It’s up to you what you can afford to give me. I can give you something that takes my time. I hope you’ll like it.”
I was beaming with pride when I heard how surprised Lydia was when one by one, most of the family followed suit. “It turned out to be the best holiday season yet. Several of the cousins thanked her for sparing them the January bills.”
